Havelock has welcomed visitors. From the 1800's until 1930, the Havelock area was a haven for hunter and fisherman. The city is one of the eight in the world named for Sir Henry Havelock. During 1858, Havelock welcomed two railroads. As a crossroads, the area became a major stop along trade routes. Havelock also survived the conflict of the Civil War. The recent addition happened in the last century when the United States Marine Corps made the area home.
