Constructed in the mid-1800s during the height of the gold rush, this old-fashioned house was once recognized as Sacramento City. The name is said to have taken after a common greeting between goldminers What cheer, partner asking about the others wellbeing. At the time, What Cheer House was home to the State Government offices as well as its own hotel and later, a shipping warehouse. Today, it hosts 9 shops so locals and tourists can continually be a part of history.
